Have you ever gone to an interview you were confident you were going to be employed but never did get a call back?
You wondered what happened, where did you go wrong....your credentials were excellent, the other candidates where no match for you, you were looking/dressed smart, you answered all the questions asked.... You wonder where did you go wrong.
The question you should be asking is not where you went wrong, but what did the others have that you were lacking.
There are some certain irrefutable skills employers look for in their employees, and those skill are not found in your credentials.
The skills are:
1. Verbal Communication - Able to express your ideas clearly and confidently in speech (even if you stammer, whatever ideas you are trying to say must be said confidently and must be understood... Not to worry not all the positions require you to do much of the talking)
2. Team Work - Ability to work confidently within a group.
3. Commercial Awareness - Understand the commercial realities affecting the organisation.
4. Analysis & Investigation - Gather information systematically to establish facts & principles. Problem solving.
5. Initiative/Self Motivation - Able to act on initiative, identify opportunities & proactive in putting forward ideas & solutions.
6. Drive - Determination to get things done. Make things happen & constantly looking for better ways of doing things.
7. Written Communication - Able to express yourself clearly in writing.
8. Planning & Organization - Able to plan activities & carry them through effectively.
9. Flexibility - Adapt successfully to changing situations & environments. (chameleon reflexes)
10. Time Management - Manage time effectively, prioritising tasks and able to work to deadlines.
As you go for next interview, arm yourself with this skills of mine, and that powerful CV of yours, success is sure yours.
